Necktie Quilt Is Done!

After nearly a year of planning, cutting, sewing, ripping, stitching, quilting and binding the necktie quilt is finally finished.

Because I'm a curious soul I asked my quilting lady-friends how much they thought it was worth. It's not big enough to be over a $1000, but it took many, many hours and drew much, much blood, so I was thinking in the $500-$750 range and they agreed, which made me feel pretty darn good.

Coincidentally, just after that I got an email from an internet marketing company wanting to put my quilts into specialty catalogs like Harry & David and Red Envelope. They said it would only cost $185 to "register" with their site and another $30 per month to continue on. Yeah. Do I look like I just fell off the turnip truck? Didn't think so.

Even if I were interested in taking the plunge and money was no object, the amount of quilts I'd have to sell to recoup my investment is nothing to the amount of time it would take, considering I do everything by hand.

I'm happier being a nobody.

Especially when helpers like Beatrix Kiddo are so willing to make themselves useful.
